Organic Gardening in Summer

Top o' the morning' to ya all Irish or not!

There's nothing like the first signs of Summer. It is truly the wonder of nature unfolding each and every day. This ol' gardener is up and thinking about picking sugar snap peas, spinach, broccoli and cabbage. The days are getting longer, and the nights are getting warmer. It's time to get up and out early in the morning. Time to get out in the yard, cleaned and ready for Summer. the flowers are all planted.
You can smell the new flowers in bloom, and the red and black raspberries smell like there ready to pick.

All the animals running about garting food as the Spummer days get Hot. You can see the deer prints, and droppings on the trial. The early morning brings the sound of the turkeys in the distance or you may see a fox or two. Just before dark or in the early morning you can see turkey's marching in a row in search of food. If,you look real close you see the squirrels stealing bird seeds from the bird feeders. Again listen closely and you will hear the turkey's in the early morning hours telling us that we should be getting ready for the hot days of Summer. Just today i was listening to the rought Gross(bird) fanning his wings to invite and femailes to mate.
As the weather continues to gets hot there is more and more work to be done. It's time to get that compost pile cooking. Yes you will need that compost for all Summer long. So spring into action, and lets all get the work done before it's gets too hot.

It's Summer, now in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Its the begining of June, and the wood has to be cut and put away for next winter.

More Gardening Tips and Tricks.

More Tips

If,you have a shady spot in your garden try growing hostas. Hostas are easy-to-grow and extremely hardy. Hostas offer lush, richly colored foliage that lends a cool, soothing feel to any area.

The foliage is attractive from spring right up until the hard frosts of fall, and the smell, its wonderful. We are trying to bring you ideas, that have worked for us in our garden.  Remember to spry your plants with deer off,or another product, because Deer love Hostas

When we moved into our new home Daylilies were growing all over the place. The next year we discover that daylilies are one of the easiest to grow of all hardy flowers. Plant them once-that's all there is to it. They grow with little care, water once a week, and they reproduce annually. We also discoved that they are immune to pests and diseases. We though there was only one color. Then we found out there was least 3 more colors, and they bloom with spectacular beauty week after week, year after year.
